Job summary

Blanchard Valley Health System seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in inpatient, outpatient, and clinical areas. You will enter prescriptions, file according to regulations, prepare billing statements, and triage calls in a busy hospital environment.

Responsibilities include IV prep, medication security, inventory control, and collaboration with healthcare teams. A high school diploma and completion of a technician program with Ohio registration within 6–18 months are preferred;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with strong Math/Science skills.
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program and registration as RPhT or CPhT with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 6–18 months of hire.
• Ability to enter outpatient prescriptions into the current computer system.
• Ability to mix chemotherapy medications and IV products.
• Ability to correctly bill for medications.
• Typing and computer skills required.
• Ability to perform short jobs and repetitive activities with accuracy.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Enters and fills prescriptions timely and accurately; files prescriptions per legal requirements; handles billing statements.
• Performs pharmacy billing functions and replenishes floor stock and narcotics; manages inventory.
• Fills physician orders manually and with the robot; delivers meds to nursing units and retrieves orders.
• Competent in IV preparation and safety requirements for cytotoxic admixtures; uses TPN compounder; performs QA checks.
• Maintains inventory control; uses ordering software; notifies about discrepancies; prevents stockouts.
• Maintains medication security; conducts periodic inspections and checks for outdated products.
• Maintains pharmacy certification by completing CEUs; participates in multidisciplinary committees.
• Supports staff, promotes teamwork, and upholds professional interactions with healthcare professionals and patients.
