Job summary

Blanchard-Valley-Health-System is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in inpatient, outpatient, and clinical areas. Responsibilities include entering/filling prescriptions, billing, handling floor stock, and supporting IV preparation and chemotherapy safety.

The role requires completion of a pharmacy technician program, Ohio registration (RPhT or CPhT within specified timelines), and ability to lift up to 35 pounds, with strong accuracy and customer-facing skills.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with demonstrated Math/Science skills.
• Typing and computer skills required.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to mix chemotherapy medications and IV products.
• Ability to enter outpatient prescriptions into the computer system.
• Ability to correctly bill for medications.

Responsibilities

• Enters and fills prescriptions timely and accurately; files prescriptions per legal requirements.
• Performs pharmacy billing functions; fills/delivers floor stock; replenishes crash cart items.
• Processes physician orders manually and via robot; delivers meds and handles orders.
• Maintains sterility and safety in IV preparation; handles cytotoxic agents and TPN.
• Manages inventory; uses ordering software; prevents shortages/overstock.
• Maintains medication security and conducts unit inspections.
• Completes CEUs and participates in hospital committees.
• Supports staff and maintains professional relations with healthcare teams.
