Job summary

TAI is seeking a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer/SME to lead technical direction for complex pharma and life sciences projects. You will develop and review control system designs, drive engineering excellence, and ensure automation solutions meet project objectives and regulatory requirements.

You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, guide technical strategy, and contribute to delivering critical facility and process automation systems from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• Master’s degree is a plus.
• Professional Engineer licensure preferred.
• Minimum eight (8) years of control system design experience for construction documents.
• Minimum 3 years in Pharma/Biotech/Life Science projects.
• Experience specifying/designing/Programming PLC/controls in Life Sciences.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, Modbus, Profibus and industrial protocols.
• Experience with Rockwell PLCs and HMI platforms.
• Familiarity with GMP, ISPE and GAMP 5 standards.

Responsibilities

• Engage with stakeholders to reflect needs in CD design.
• Prepare Technical Requirements Specification for systems and standards.
• Ensure Specifications delivered to the Design Contractor.
• Define design deliverables for all stages (CD/BD/DD).
• Review Contractor responses to ensure requirements are captured.
• Attend project meetings as needed and support procurement strategy.
• Produce Design Assurance Reports for technical alignment.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and GMP/SHE compliance.
