Job summary

Subway is seeking a Sr. Performance Engineer to lead the enterprise Performance Engineering function across the digital ecosystem, including web, mobile, kiosk, POS, and loyalty platforms. You will combine hands-on testing with reliability practices and AI-enabled workflows to ensure scalable systems in fast delivery cycles.

You will partner with SRE, Observability, DevOps and Architecture teams to improve reliability, reduce risk, and validate resilience through chaos experiments.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years in performance engineering at enterprise scale.
• Experience with load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests.
• Proficiency in CI/CD and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise Performance Engineering as a horizontal service across platforms.
• Design and execute performance tests for high-volume flows (ordering, payments).
• Embed performance validation into CI/CD pipelines and automate reporting.
• Partner with SRE/DevOps to set reliability targets and run chaos experiments.
• Provide evidence-based go/no-go decisions for releases and senior reporting.
• Incorporate AI-assisted workflows into performance planning and triage.
• Maintain AI artifacts and guardrails for compliant use.
