Job summary

Kleinfelder, a leader in construction services, seeks a PCI Level II/III Engineer (PE) to lead field quality oversight for precast components on a Bay Area transportation project. You will supervise 3-4 PCI inspectors and ensure compliance with PCI standards from fabrication to erection, applying engineering judgment for quality assurance and safety.

The role requires CA PE license within six months, PCI certification, and 7–10 years in QA/QC for major infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• CA P.E. license required or obtainable within six months of hire.
• PCI Level II/III Certification required.
• 7–10 years of QA/QC or inspection experience with precast/prestressed concrete on major transportation or rail projects.
• Procore, CMIS, BIM 360 or equivalent documentation platforms experience.
• Valid California driver’s license and ability to travel to Bay Area fabrication plants and job sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced quality inspections of precast and prestressed concrete elements.
• Ensure work complies with PCI MNL-116, MNL-117, MNL-135 and project specs.
• Oversee production stages: reinforcement, prestressing, batching, curing, stripping, finishing, storage.
• Observe post-tensioning and grouting activities; witness tests.
• Review inspection reports, test data, and material certifications for PE accountability.
• Maintain daily inspection logs, photos, and nonconformance records.
• Coordinate with Contractor QC/QA and other inspectors to resolve issues.
• Participate in pre-pour and pre-erection meetings and third-party inspections.
• Provide technical oversight to Level II/III inspectors and advise QA Manager on risk areas.
• Promote safety and environmental compliance on all field activities.
