Job summary

Kleinfelder Inc in the Bay Area is seeking a PCI Level II/III Engineer (PE) to lead field and plant quality oversight for precast concrete components on a major transportation project. The role includes supervising 3-4 PCI inspectors and ensuring PCI standards during fabrication, delivery, and erection.

Candidates must hold a CA PE, PCI II/III, and 7–10 years of QA/QC/inspection experience on precast projects. Procore/CMIS/BIM360 experience preferred; travel to Bay Area sites required.

Qualifications

• PE license in the State of California (required or obtainable within six months of hire).
• PCI Level II or Level III Certification (required).
• 7–10 years of QA/QC or inspection experience with precast or prestressed concrete on major projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced quality inspections of precast and prestressed concrete elements.
• Ensure compliance with PCI MNL-116, MNL-117, MNL-135 and project drawings.
• Oversee production stages: reinforcement placement, prestressing, batching, curing, stripping, finishing, handling/storage.
• Observe post-tensioning and grouting.
• Conduct or witness concrete tests and calibrate equipment.
• Review inspection reports, test data and material certifications.
• Evaluate mix designs and submittals for PCI compliance.
• Maintain daily inspection logs and photos in project documentation systems.
• Coordinate with QC/QA and oversight personnel to resolve issues.
• Participate in pre-pour/pre-erection meetings, audits, and third-party inspections.
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to Level II/III inspectors.
