Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to act as a technical lead in Payroll Tax Operations, resolving complex state and federal notices and preparing amended returns across multiple states. The role includes coaching teammates, building team capability, and driving process improvements to deliver accurate tax resolutions.

The position is a flexible, hourly engagement through SelectTime, with 20–40 hours per week available and overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• 4+ years payroll tax experience focusing on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notices, penalties, and resolutions.
• Experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (941-X, W-2c).
• Strong written communication; able to draft agency responses and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex state and federal payroll tax notices across multiple states and quarters.
• Prepare and file amended payroll tax returns end-to-end with reconciliations.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors and drive full correction workflows to resolution.
• Maintain high productivity resolving corrections, amendments, and notices with accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases, and escalate blockers with root-cause analysis.
• Coach and support Senior Payroll Tax Processors; lead knowledge transfer.
• Contribute to team meetings, QA sessions, and process improvement initiatives.
• Author and review SOPs and KB articles; identify recurring errors for improvement.
