Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a diverse technical and administrative workforce. This fully onsite role in Ashburn, Virginia requires the ability to obtain a public trust security clearance.

You will execute bi-weekly payroll cycles, validate timekeeping, address discrepancies, and provide guidance on payroll policies. You will also generate summaries and audit documentation.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of payroll experience.
• Knowledge of federal labor standards and timekeeping requirements.
• Experience with payroll systems (ADP, Paycom, Deltek Costpoint preferred).
• Understanding of FLSA, PTO accruals, and multi-state payroll rules.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply payroll policies consistently.

Responsibilities

• Payroll Processing — Execute bi‑weekly payroll cycles including hours, leave, deductions, and adjustments.
• Timekeeping Validation — Review timesheets for compliance with organizational and federal requirements.
• Issue Resolution — Research and resolve discrepancies related to pay, leave, or timekeeping.
• Employee Support — Provide guidance on payroll policies, procedures, and system navigation.
• Reporting — Prepare payroll summaries, reconciliation reports, and audit documentation.
• Record Maintenance — Maintain accurate payroll records and support system updates.
• Audit Assistance — Support internal and external audits with required documentation.
