Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Payroll Specialist (Mid-Level) to support payroll operations for a diverse technical and administrative workforce. The specialist will ensure accurate payroll processing, compliance with federal labor standards, and timely support for employees and internal stakeholders.

This full-time, onsite role is located in Ashburn, Virginia, and requires the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of payroll experience.
• Knowledge of federal labor standards and timekeeping.
• Experience with payroll systems (ADP/Paycom/Costpoint preferred).
• Understanding of FLSA, PTO accruals, and multi-state payroll rules.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply payroll policies consistently.

Responsibilities

• Execute bi-weekly payroll cycles including hours, leave, deductions.
• Review timesheets for compliance with requirements.
• Research and resolve discrepancies related to pay, leave, or timekeeping.
• Provide guidance on payroll policies and system navigation.
• Prepare payroll summaries, reconciliation reports, and audits.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and updates.
• Support internal and external audits with required documentation.
