Job summary

Alkegen seeks a Payroll Specialist to independently process payroll across multiple locations and states. You will analyze payroll accounts, respond to inquiries, and maintain high confidentiality while coordinating with human resources and benefits teams.

The role requires strong Excel/data-entry skills, expertise in federal/state payroll tax laws, and experience with UKG and Workday. You will support year-end processing and provide complex reports for Finance and HR.

Qualifications

• The ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion and seek Payroll Manager guidance when necessary.
• Proficiency with federal and multi-state payroll tax laws and regulations.
• Exceptional data entry skills with emphasis on data integrity and speed.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to relate to various groups of internal and external customers.
• The ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Minimum Education: Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience with a multi-location, multi-state company with a Bachelor’s degree, or 7+ years with an Associate’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Process one or more full-cycle multi-state payrolls and related records.
• Transmit data from time and attendance to payroll system and balance batches.
• Maintain Workday Payroll interfaces and lead process improvements.
• Verify change reports for new hires and HR changes.
• Complete and ensure accuracy of special payroll runs (e.g., bonuses).
• Prepare accounting reports and analyses for Finance, HR and Benefits.
