Job summary

ESHYFT is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a large, multi-state healthcare workforce. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role handles payroll administration, timekeeping audits, reporting, analytics, reconciliations, and issue resolution.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of payroll experience, advanced Excel skills, and experience with W-2/1099 populations. Preference for ADP Workforce Now, Paychex, or UKG.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll experience.
• Experience in high-volume, multi-state payroll.
• Experience with W-2 and/or 1099 populations.
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS).
• Understanding payroll taxes, deductions, wage/hour rules, garnishments.
• Auditing timecards and payroll data accuracy.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support payroll operations across large-volume W-2 and 1099 workforces.
• Review, audit, and validate hours, timecards, deductions, and payroll data.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and tax inquiries.
• Serve as primary nurse payroll contact and issue resolution point.
• Review payroll registers, funding reports, tax reports, and audit reports.
• Prepare payroll and workforce reports and ad hoc analyses.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and month-end support activities.
• Coordinate payroll vendor support and system improvement initiatives.
