Job summary

Ridgewells Catering in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role requires auditing, reconciliation, reporting, and problem-solving to guarantee employees are paid correctly every time.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of payroll experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with multi-state payroll.

Qualifications

• Two years of payroll experience preferred.
• Experience processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
• Strong understanding of payroll regulations and wage and hour requirements.
• Experience auditing payroll and identifying discrepancies prior to processing.
• Excellent Excel skills including formulas, sorting, filtering, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, audit, and process assigned payrolls.
• Review and reconcile timecards, pay rates, deductions, and taxes.
• Research, analyze, and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Prepare payroll audit and reconciliation reports before processing.
• Verify new hire information and changes; handle retroactive adjustments.
• Prepare payroll reports and assist with month, quarter, and year-end activities.
• Maintain payroll records securely and confidentially.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries promptly.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and accuracy.
