Job summary

Pilot is hiring a Consultant, Payroll Operations to provide hands-on payroll and HR operations support to our portfolio of growing businesses. You will own recurring payroll processing, payroll implementations, and provider transitions while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

You will also manage benefits administration, onboarding/offboarding, and multi-state tax registrations, working directly with clients to scale payroll operations as teams expand.

Qualifications

• 2-4+ years in payroll administration, payroll operations, HR operations, benefits administration, or related field.
• Hands-on payroll expertise: processed end-to-end payroll with multi-state tax knowledge.
• Experience implementing or supporting payroll and HRIS platforms and provider transitions.
• Benefits and people operations: onboarding/offboarding, deductions, employer contributions across systems.
• Detail-oriented and self-directed: manages multiple clients and deadlines with accuracy.
• Clear communicator: explains issues and next steps clearly to clients with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Own the payroll cycle end to end for a portfolio of clients, including inputs, transitions, testing, and compliance.
• Administer benefits and HR operations across HRIS and payroll platforms, including enrollments and changes.
• Be the client's operational partner, translating needs into scalable processes and driving improvements.
