Job summary

Shields Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Senior Payroll Manager to lead multi-entity payroll operations across several states. You will own end-to-end processing, ensure compliance, and partner with Accounting, HR, and Finance to drive accuracy and efficiency.

The role requires 7+ years in progressive payroll, strong Workday Payroll experience, and advanced Excel skills. You will mentor payroll staff, run audits, and support month-end close while ensuring data integrity and regulatory

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-entity and multi-state payroll.
• Strong hands-on experience with Workday Payroll required.
• Healthcare industry experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of payroll tax, wage and hour laws, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll processing for 26+ legal entities across multiple states.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of hourly, salaried, and off-cycle payrolls.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage, tax, and reporting requirements.
• Act as the escalation point for complex payroll issues and corrections.
• Manage payroll operations within Workday Payroll, including configuration, audits, and testing.
• Record payroll activity in the general ledger and reconcile payroll-related accounts.
• Manage labor cost allocations and support month-end close activities.
• Support audits and wage/salary variance analysis.
