Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Payroll Manager in San Jose, CA for a full-time, on-site role. You will own weekly payroll for 500+ employees (union and non-union), manage GL reconciliations, and guide the ERP transition from Sage to Miter while ensuring audit-ready controls.

You will lead a payroll team, drive accuracy, and ensure timely payroll cycles, tax filings, and compliant reporting across multiple states.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, with 3+ in a leadership role
• Demonstrated strength in payroll accounting and GL reconciliation
• Track record managing high-volume, deadline-driven, multistate payrolls
• Expertise in payroll controls, audits, and corrective action planning
• Advanced Excel skills plus proficiency with major payroll/ERP systems; system-conversion experience a strong plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and/or CPP certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Direct weekly payroll processing for 500+ union and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Own payroll general-ledger reconciliations and prepare month-end / year-end journal entries
• Design and maintain internal controls, approval workflows, and audit documentation
• Oversee multistate and local payroll tax filings, W-2s, and notice resolution
• Lead the payroll system conversion, plan, test, and train users for a seamless go-live
• Coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing payroll team focused on service and accountability
