Job summary

Sotera Health is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead and modernize US payroll operations across a complex multi-state environment for approximately 1,700 associates.

The role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while strengthening controls, developing payroll talent, and advancing payroll technology and automation. Collaboration with HR, Accounting, Treasury, and Legal is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, human resources, or related discipline preferred.
• Minimum seven years progressive payroll processing, preferably in a shared services environment.
• CPP designation preferred; alternative with equivalent payroll expertise and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll processing for multi-state and multi-entity environment.
• Establish and manage payroll calendar, deadlines, reviews, approvals, and escalations.
• Oversee payroll taxes, filings, garnishments, and deductions; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead payroll team, set goals, responsibilities, and development plans.
• Partner with Accounting, HR, Treasury, Legal, IT, and Internal Audit on payroll-related matters.
• Drive payroll system governance, automation, and KPI monitoring.
