Job summary

Munger, Tolles & Olson, LLP is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations, ensure compliance, and implement process improvements. The role partners with HR, Benefits, and Finance to deliver accurate payroll across multiple states and manage ADP and Workday systems in a high-demand legal environment.

The position offers a hybrid schedule, three office days, and a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $160,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related discipline preferred.
• Seven or more years of progressively responsible payroll experience including multi-state payroll.
• Experience with ADP products including Workforce Manager, Workforce Now and GLI; Workday experience preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data validation, reconciliation, and analysis of large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Oversees semi-monthly payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintains payroll records in compliance with legal and Firm requirements.
• Designs payroll analyses, reconciliations, and reporting models for finance and audits.
• Manages payroll system configurations, testing, upgrades, and change management for ADP and Workday integrations.
• Leads payroll staff, sets goals, and ensures cross-functional collaboration with HR, Benefits, and Finance.
