Job summary

Plastipak Packaging, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead a team and deliver end-to-end payroll services for 4,000+ employees across U.S. locations from Plymouth, MI.

You will oversee processing, tax activities, reconciliations, controls, and compliance while driving improvements with SAP, UKG, ADP, and Workday. The role requires multi-state payroll expertise, strong leadership, and collaboration across Finance and HR to optimize technology and controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in multi-state payroll processing for a mid-sized or larger company.
• 5+ years of experience managing a payroll team with leadership experience.
• Deep subject-matter expertise in payroll operations, including employment tax, wage garnishments, labor reporting and compliance.
• Proficient in payroll technology (SAP, UKG, ADP, Workday) and staying current with trends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and engage the Payroll team, coaching and developing staff.
• Oversee payroll processing for all employees with policies, controls and timely execution.
• Resolve discrepancies and escalated issues using expert problem-solving skills.
• Manage tax filings, payments, and issues with internal teams and external partners.
• Support Accounting with payroll transactions and GL reconciliation.
• Implement controls, reporting and audits to ensure compliance and improve processes.
• Collaborate on upgrading payroll systems and technology initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with government payroll regulations and reporting.
