Job summary

Abacus Group, LLC in New York City seeks an experienced Senior Payroll Coordinator to support multi-state payroll processing and ensure regulatory compliance. You will handle bi-weekly and semi-monthly cycles and collaborate with HR and Finance to keep records accurate.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in payroll, familiarity with ADP Workforce Now, UKG Pro, Workday or Paycom, strong Excel skills, and a commitment to accuracy and privacy in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll experience, including high-volume, multi-state processing.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now, UKG Pro, Workday, Paycom or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for multi-state employees.
• Review payroll data including hires, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
• Audit payroll registers and resolve discrepancies prior to processing.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries on earnings, taxes, deductions, and timekeeping.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure payroll changes are reflected.
• Process garnishments, tax levies, child support orders, and other deductions.
• Reconcile payroll reports, benefit deductions, and GL payroll accounts.
• Assist with quarter-end and year-end activities including W-2 preparation and payroll tax reconciliations.
• Support payroll audits and suggest process improvements.
