Planned Parenthood seeks a Senior Payroll Specialist in New York to manage complex, multi-state payroll operations and ensure accurate, compliant pay runs. The role requires expert UKG knowledge, strong Excel skills, and collaboration with auditors and cross-functional teams.

The position focuses on QA/QC, regulatory updates, and year-end activities, with responsibilities spanning data preparation, reconciliations, and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional certifications preferred.
• 4-5 years of comprehensive payroll experience in high-complexity environments (multi-state, union).
• Minimum 3 years as a Power User or SME in UKG (Pro/Ready) or similar systems.
• High proficiency in MS Excel and Google Sheets for reconciling large datasets.
• Experience with system implementations, testing (UAT), or API integrations between Payroll and HRIS/Benefits platforms.
• Ability to assess complex payroll components and provide analytical frameworks for process improvement.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with auditors, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
• Excellent handling of confidential information and navigating ambiguous situations.

Responsibilities

• Assess complex payroll components and provide analysis to ensure compliance.
• Monitor terminations to ensure last pay laws.
• Act as core functional user for UKG; support system enhancements/upgrades.
• Research regulatory changes and update payroll policies and procedures.
• Prepare and reconcile data for audits (401k, financial statements).
• Reconcile payroll with external systems (401k, tax authorities).
• Provide QA/QC on payroll data and coordinate with Payroll Manager for final approval.
• Support year-end activities, tax reconciliations, and W-2 issuance.
• Review quarterly tax packets and recommend system updates for compliance.
• Respond to unemployment claims and other duties as assigned.
• Engage with external auditors, tax agencies, and payroll vendors.
