Job summary

Baker Tilly US is seeking a Senior Payroll Consultant to join our HR & Payroll Consulting team. You will support payroll operations, compliance, and process improvements across diverse client engagements.

Ideal candidates have 3 years of payroll experience, knowledge of multistate regulations, and familiarity with ADP, Workday, SAP or Oracle/PeopleSoft. CPP certification preferred; position is mostly remote with proximity to Texas/Wisconsin/Pennsylvania offices.

Qualifications

• 3 years of payroll experience in a consulting firm, payroll provider, or in-house payroll function.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance requirements, and multistate regulations.
• Experience with payroll tax forms and filings.

Responsibilities

• Support payroll consulting engagements across a range of clients, industries, and geographies.
• Assist in assessing and improving client payroll processes, controls, and procedures.
• Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews, including federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support payroll tax activities, including preparation and review of forms (e.g., 941, 941-X, W-2C).
• Assist with payroll setup and configuration, including earnings, deductions, and tax treatments.
• Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality work.
• Communicate payroll concepts and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
