Job summary

Basepoint Building Automations in Des Moines, IA seeks a Senior Payroll Specialist to manage weekly multi-state payroll for union and non-union staff, ensure accurate tax filings, and oversee year-end activities. The role partners with Finance to resolve payroll inquiries and maintain compliant records.

The ideal candidate has extensive payroll experience, strong knowledge of deductions, garnishments, and certified payroll considerations, with an emphasis on accuracy and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Progressive payroll experience required across multiple states.
• FLSA/ACA compliance knowledge preferred.
• Experience with union payroll processing preferred.
• Understanding of wage garnishments and deductions.
• Experience with year-end payroll processes and W-2 distribution.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee payroll tax filings (UE, withholdings) on various cycles.
• Prepare and submit monthly Department of Labor hours reports.
• Process garnishments and child support orders per legal requirements.
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and laws and stay updated on changes.
• Prepare annual tax filings and W-2s for IRS compliance.
• Coordinate with Finance as the payroll and time & attendance SME.
• Respond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Serve as liaison between payroll and finance and maintain accurate records.
