Job summary

Archipelago Companies is seeking a Senior Manager of Payroll & Benefits for its Irvine, CA office in an in-office hybrid role. You will lead payroll processing, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance across multiple states, coordinating with HR, Finance, and external vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
• Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits multi-state laws, including FLSA, ACA, COBRA, ERISA, and IRS regulations.
• Experience with payroll and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, BambooHR, Full Circle).
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage confidential information.
• Professional Certifications such as CPP.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Actively seeks out AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies, adapting quickly to leverage them for improved productivity, deeper insights, and more effective processes, while exercising sound judgment and maintaining compliance with organizational standards

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll processing end-to-end, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Administer benefits programs including health, retirement, FSA, and life insurance.
• Prepare payroll tax filings, W-2s, 1095-Cs, and government reports.
• Partner with Finance and HRIS to optimize processes and drive efficiency.
• Assist audits and ensure 401K and workers compensation compliance.
• Support acquisitions with payroll integration and post-merger onboarding.
