Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Senior Payroll Associate to join their team! This position is located Hybrid in Los Angeles, California.
Duties
- Perform all duties necessary to timely and accurately process multi-state bi-weekly and weekly payrolls for salary, hourly, and freelance employees
- Process on demand payments, retroactive payments, one-time payments, taxable fringe benefits, tax adjustments and equity-based compensation ensuring compliance with company policies, contracts, and federal and state regulations
- Export and reconcile data from the time and attendance system
- Review and audit timecard data for appropriateness
- Review, audit, and reconcile payrolls
- Prepare and process stop payments, void checks, direct deposit reversals and overpayment collections in accordance with company, federal, and state regulations
- Assist employees and management with questions, concerns, or requests regarding payroll
- Interpret garnishment documents and respond in a timely manner while communicating with employees and vendors as necessary
- Interpret and set up withholding orders for levies, garnishments, child support and other involuntary wage assignment orders in the payroll system within the regulated period
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and SOX controls
- Understand proper taxation of all employee payments including employer paid benefit and equity-based compensation
Desired Skills/Experience
- 5+ years hands on payroll processing experience in the entertainment industry
- Payroll Org FPC or CPP strong preferred
- Experience with Workday Payroll strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of taxable fringe benefits and processing of stock transactions
- Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations with an emphasis on multi-state taxation and garnishments
- Experience and knowledge of California Labor laws
- Experience and knowledge of automated time and attendance systems
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills using VLOOKUP and pivots
- High degree of professionalism and solid ability in delivering high quality customer service and establishing/maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships
- Excellent judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to explain all payroll calculations and deductions to employees and all levels of management

Compensation
The approximate pay range for this position is between $33.00 and $48.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
