Job summary

Swickard Auto Group is seeking a detail-driven Senior Payroll Staff Accountant to support accurate payroll processing, journal entries, and reconciliations across multiple states. You will ensure proper accounting treatment and timely reporting of payroll expenses, taxes, and deductions within a high-volume Shared Services environment.

The role requires 3-5 years of payroll accounting experience, proficiency with Paylocity, and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in payroll accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience with multi-state payroll and accounting across multiple entities.
• Experience with Paylocity or similar payroll/accounting platforms.
• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Support accurate processing and reconciliation of payroll-related transactions.
• Post payroll journal entries including wages, taxes, benefits and other payroll expenses.
• Reconcile payroll registers, GL accounts, tax liabilities and deductions.
• Research discrepancies between payroll and accounting records and supporting docs.
• Review payroll activity for accuracy and appropriate accounting treatment.
• Assist with payroll accruals, month-end close, and period-end adjustments.
• Analyze payroll expenses and variances versus budgets and forecasts.
• Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for payroll accounts.
