Job summary

Swickard Auto Group in Las Vegas is seeking a Senior Payroll Staff Accountant to support accurate processing, accounting, reconciliation, and reporting of payroll-related transactions across the organization. This role combines payroll expertise with accounting acumen to ensure payroll expenses and liabilities are recorded correctly.

You will work in a growing Shared Services team that supports nearly 3,000 employees across six states, collaborating with Payroll and HR to reflect compensation

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in payroll accounting or related role.
• Experience with payroll processing, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Experience with multi-state payroll and multi-entity environments.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Support accurate and timely payroll processing, review, and reconciliation.
• Prepare, review, and post payroll journal entries for wages, taxes, and benefits.
• Reconcile payroll registers, general ledger accounts, and tax liabilities.
• Research and resolve discrepancies between payroll and accounting records.
• Assist with payroll accruals, month-end close, and period-end adjustments.
• Analyze payroll activity and investigate variances against budgets and forecasts.
• Maintain supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for payroll accounts.
• Collaborate with Payroll and HR to ensure accurate reflection of compensation changes.
• Assist with reconciliation of commissions, bonuses, and other variable compensation.
• Support payroll taxes, employer contributions, and related liabilities.
• Assist with payroll funding, settlements, and bank reconciliations.
• Support internal and external audits with payroll reports and reconciliations.
• Contribute to development and improvement of payroll accounting processes and controls.
• Identify opportunities for efficiency and data integrity improvements.
