Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer focusing on ISO 20022, SWIFT, CHIPS, and Fedwire payment ecosystems to join our payments engineering team in Charlotte or Irving.

You will design, build, and modernize enterprise payment platforms supporting domestic and international transfers, and lead cross-functional initiatives across cloud-native architectures. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Five to six years of relevant experience in payments engineering or financial services
• Deep expertise in Global Payments, ISO 20022, SWIFT, CHIPS, Fedwire
• Experience designing and implementing large-scale payment systems and real-time processing
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and secure development
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, IBM MQ, JMS
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD
• Leadership in payment modernization, digital transformation, and agile delivery

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance enterprise-scale payment processing platforms
• Lead integration of payment solutions across SWIFT, CHIPS, Fedwire, ISO 20022
• Architect and modernize payment systems using cloud-native tech and APIs
• Collaborate with business, operations, and tech teams for secure, scalable capabilities
• Drive transformation including legacy modernization and platform migration
• Ensure compliance and regulatory requirements across networks
• Lead design reviews, set engineering standards, mentor teams
• Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize payment lifecycles
