Bank of America is seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer to lead engineering for a next-generation wire payment processing platform. This role blends leadership with architecture, requiring deep Java, Oracle, and cloud expertise and strong payments domain knowledge.

The candidate will guide cross-functional teams across Java, Node.js, Oracle, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP). Finacle familiarity is a plus. A complex, enterprise-grade design mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in payments or financial services technology
• Strong experience with wire, ACH, RTP payments
• Deep knowledge of ISO 20022 messaging standards
• Cloud-first design with AWS tools and IaC
• Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Proven leadership in enterprise Java environments (Spring, EE) and Oracle SQL
• Experience with distributed data systems and messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with regulatory/compliance in financial services
• Excellent communication and architectural documentation skills

Responsibilities

• Define and lead engineering approach for complex features delivering significant business outcomes
• Set tech stack and evaluate testing tools/frameworks for teams
• Enable CI/CD across programs and drive efficient pipeline practices
• Provide design guidance and promote high-code performance practices
• Deliver end-to-end features with automation across one or more teams
• Research and prototype new toolsets, components, and release management workflows
• Collaborate with stakeholders and architects on high-level solution needs
• Design cloud-native architectures on AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway)
• Ensure security/compliance with IAM, encryption, and monitoring best practices
• Optimize cloud infra for scalability, performance, and cost; integrate observability
• Implement IaC with CloudFormation or Terraform for automated provisioning
• Link CI/CD pipelines with AWS services for seamless deployments
• Plan disaster recovery and multi-region architectures
• Ensure regulatory compliance for cloud-based financial apps
