Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Patient Care Technician – Senior to join our nursing support team. The role emphasizes clear communication with the care team and patients, adherence to safety practices, and capability to handle ADLs, vitals, and basic procedures under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrollment in a Nursing Program with healthcare experience and clinical rotation requirements.
• Basic information system training completed or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly and effectively with health care team and patients.
• Report equipment malfunctions and liaise with departments.
• Perform UPMC core nursing assistant duties including ADLs, vitals, and simple procedures.
• Assist with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies under RN supervision.
• Receive feedback and participate in unit projects and continuous improvement.
• Carry out department duties and ensure safety and policy compliance.
• Achieve and maintain advanced skills as department needs dictate.
