Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide patient care, assist with daily activities, and support nursing staff. The role includes core CNA responsibilities (glucose, vital signs, I&O), plus advanced tasks as needed, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, completion of the UPMC PCT program, eRecord training, and CPR; EMT/Paramedic training is preferred. On-site position with hospital operations in the Cumberland County area.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Optionally pursue PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training with clinical rotation.
• Successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class and eRecord training.
• EMT or Paramedic training or enrollment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care including assisting with procedures and activities of daily living.
• Performs core nursing assistant tasks (blood glucose, weights, vitals, I&O, specimens, Foley care) and at least four BU tasks.
• Reports equipment malfunctions and maintains communication with other departments.
• Documents in the medical record per established procedures and supports department workflows.
• Ensures safety, supports call lights, meal trays, and patient transport; communicates effectively with health care teams.
