Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a leader to guide the Patient Billing/Services Representatives and coordinate front desk/scheduling activities.

The role directs office functions, ensures HIPAA and procedure compliance, and liaises with staff, patients, and clinicians to advocate patients’ needs. The position requires a high school diploma, basic life support certification, and experience in medical billing and customer service within a hospital/clinic setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
• Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.
• Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Responsibilities

• Monitors the performance of the staff areas to ensure quality care and compliance with practice standards.
• Monitors and observes to ensure appointments are scheduled appropriately in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Triage patient phone calls, tasks and emails as needed.
• Assist in management of providers’ schedules, scheduling templates and master schedules.
• Coordinate staff training and onboarding for new procedures and staff.
• Coordinate staff vacations, schedules and coverage.
• Assist with staff timesheets and accruals distribution.
• Plan and conduct orientation and staff development.
• Coordinate ordering and monitoring of supplies and equipment.
• Maintain skills/competencies and participate in in-services and cross-training.
• Comply with OSHA and regulatory standards.
• Act as backup for staff during peak times and absences.
• Prepare custom reports as directed by management.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.
