Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative III - Per Diem to pre-register, pre-admit and admit patients by phone or in person. You will review demographics, insurance benefits, obtain authorizations, provide estimates, and assist with cash collection and patient services across multiple campuses in San Diego.

The role requires strong customer service, knowledge of third-party payers, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of registration or medical front office experience.
• Thorough Knowledge of third-party payers and medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, Word).
• Strong verbal and written communication at all levels.
• Professional demeanor with accountability.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registers, pre-admits, and admits patients by telephone or in person.
• Review and interpret insurance benefits; obtain prior authorizations and patient estimates.
• Collect cash and coordinate with public assistance programs as needed.
• Coordinate with hospital departments to ensure timely reimbursement.
