Job summary

UTHealth Houston Bellaire Station Clinic is seeking a Patient Access Representative in Houston. The role involves collecting patient demographics, insurance details, and financial information, posting payments, and possibly scheduling appointments.

Prior scheduling experience is a plus, and strong customer service is required to support patients and families. Candidates should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least 1 year in a hospital or medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains demographic, insurance and financial information from patient or guarantor.
• Enters information in computer system with a high degree of accuracy.
• May schedule patient appointments and enter required information in the computer system in an accurate and timely manner.
• Explains all required forms to the patient or guarantor and obtains the necessary signatures.
• Ensures medical necessity compliance by obtaining necessary data, reviewing information and signatures.
• Protects the financial integrity of the facility by collecting patient liability and discussing payment options.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and ensures notifications and authorizations are completed within timeframes.
• Posts payments in the computer system and generates patient receipts.
• Communicates professionally with physicians, care management, staff, insurers, patients and families.
• Completes thorough and accurate documentation.
• Promotes professional growth and development; serves as a resource to less experienced staff.
