UTHealth Houston's Bay Area Primary and Specialty Pediatric Care clinic is seeking a Patient Access Representative to deliver exceptional patient service and manage front-end clinic operations. The role handles patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and collections, ensuring accurate documentation and smooth daily workflows.

The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate insurance benefits and managed care plans.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of experience in a hospital or medical business office setting required.
• Ability to explain forms to patients or guarantors and obtain signatures.
• Experience with insurance eligibility and benefits a plus.

Responsibilities

• Obtains demographic, insurance and financial information from patient or guarantor.
• Enters information in computer system with a high degree of accuracy.
• May schedule patient appointments and enter required information in the system.
• Explains all required forms to the patient or guarantor and obtains signatures.
• Ensures medical necessity compliance by obtaining necessary data and communicating with patient or guarantor.
• Collects patient liability, establishes payment arrangements, discusses options and screens for eligibility; may provide financial counseling including charity applications.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and ensures notifications and authorizations are completed timely.
• Posts payments in the system and issues patient receipts.
• Communicates professionally with physicians, care management, staff, insurance companies and patients; maintains thorough documentation.
• Promotes professional growth and serves as a resource to less experienced staff.
