Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Patient Access Rep Senior at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center to lead the patient access team during the evening shift. You will train staff, analyze KPIs, and assist with department schedules while supporting the Patient Access Supervisor.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and experience in patient registration and financial clearance. A focus on patient service and collaboration with hospital teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of Patient Access Experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Medical terminology, computer skills and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff.
• Interview patients and collect demographic and financial information for scheduling and registration.
• Verify and document demographic and insurance information; initiate insurance verification.
• Meet department goals for accuracy, cash collections, and productivity.
• Complete required forms with patient signatures and explain financial responsibilities.
• Perform cashier duties and reconcile daily cash receipts as assigned.
• Review patient work queues daily and correct errors to ensure billing accuracy.
• Assist with bed assignments and bed tracking to support patient flow.
• Demonstrate proficiency in pre-admission, registration, and financial clearance processes.
• Collaborate with nursing and ancillary departments to support a team environment.
• Participate in training and development for registration staff.
