Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 5 years of Patient Access, Customer Service or Medical Billing work experience OR Associates Degree in related field and 3 years of Patient Access or Medical Billing work experience.
• Certification in medical billing, coding, or equivalent job specific certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train and guide Patient Access Representatives as required.
• Perform registration and financial functions via EMR, including demographic data collection.
• Greet customers promptly with a warm and friendly reception.
• Collect, document, and scan demographic and financial information.
• Direct patients to appropriate setting and explain delays.
• Maintain professionalism and diplomacy per department policy.
• Estimate and collect copays, deductibles, and other patient financial obligations.
• Ensure compliance with Hospital and Department Plans and Meaningful Use requirements.
• Facilitate electronic registration tools when available.
