Job summary

McLaren Greater Lansing seeks a patient registration specialist to ensure accurate data entry and on-line insurance verification in line with HIPAA and hospital policies. You will deliver excellent customer service and maintain complete patient records, coordinating admissions and obtaining necessary signatures.

The role involves collecting co-pays, directing self-pay patients to Financial Counseling, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of patient registration or billing experience in acute care or related clerical work; or an associate degree in medical billing/coding.

Responsibilities

• Accurate entry of patient registration data and on-line insurance verification per HIPAA and compliance rules.
• Coordinate admission and transfer planning with Nursing Supervisor and other departments.
• Contact physicians and offices to obtain complete orders meeting medical necessity.
• Collect and verify patient demographics and insurance data prior to service.
• Prepare and audit patient records for completeness and distribute as needed.
