Job summary

Midwestern University is seeking a Sr. Paralegal in the Office of the General Counsel in Arizona. The role negotiates complex contracts, governs the contract lifecycle, and leads AI-enabled legal playbooks to improve efficiency.

The position reports to the Vice President and General Counsel and requires sophisticated judgment in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will manage affiliation agreements, handle negotiations with external parties, and train staff on contract processing while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and ABA Paralegal Certification with at least five years of corporate/contract experience.
• Ability to independently manage complex legal matters and priorities in a high-volume environment.
• Experience with contract lifecycle management and negotiations.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA regulatory frameworks.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with NetDocuments and AI-enabled platforms.

Responsibilities

• Independently review, negotiate, and edit complex agreements with minimal attorney oversight.
• Primary point of contact for contract negotiations with external parties.
• Administer the contract lifecycle management process and archiving across systems.
• Manage contract workflows and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
• Assist with expansion of affiliation agreements and student clinical placements.
• Design and deliver agreement processing training for faculty and staff.
• Advise on contract structures for on- and off-campus events.
• Lead AI-enabled legal playbooks and governance of AI tools.
