Job summary

American Sugar Refining, Inc. seeks a Packaging Manager to lead a high-speed operation in New Orleans (Chalmette).

You will coordinate packaging activities, guide a diverse leadership team, and drive continuous improvement to meet demand, quality, and safety goals. The role requires 6+ years of packaging leadership, experience in a unionized, CPG or food manufacturing environment, and strong data skills with PowerBI and Redzone.

Qualifications

• Six or more years leading a high-speed packaging operation.
• Experience in a unionized environment.
• Experience in a CPG or Food Manufacturing setting.
• Experience leading a large work group.
• Prior continuous improvement experience.
• Ability to supervise, coach, and train employees.
• Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint; strong communication skills.
• Understanding of HSSE practices and quality systems (ISO, SQF).
• Able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead a diverse team to meet production demand with quality and safety.
• Review daily packaging operations with Leadership Team; coordinate with Logistics for order fulfillment.
• Analyze production data with Redzone and PowerBI; implement performance improvements.
• Track and report KPIs (OEE, Waste, Labor Utilization, Downtime, Safety).
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities through process optimization.
• Manage departmental budgets and control COGS.
• Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement; set clear expectations.
