Job summary

Amrize Building Envelope in the United States seeks a Senior Packaging and Material Handling Engineer to optimize packaging and material handling systems and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and throughput. This role applies lean principles, time studies, value stream mapping, and financial routings to high-impact processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Field of Study Preferred: Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Packaging Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering or plant manufacturing with focus on packaging and material handling.
• Experience with packaging types (plastic pails, metal buckets, 55 gallon drums, cartridges, liners) and related feeding/handling mechanisms is a plus.
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, AutoCAD, Minitab.

Responsibilities

• Transition new packaging and material handling processes through development of effective manufacturing processes and equipment operation with a multi-functional team.
• Perform trials, studies and capability analyses to improve packaging material and process capabilities.
• Apply statistical methods to understand and reduce process variation.
• Utilize Value Stream Mapping to analyze and manage material flow across plants.
• Support CAPEX by partnering with project engineering and providing input to packaging and material handling projects.
• Lead kaikaku/kaizen events related to packaging and material handling.
• Analyze production performance and implement improvements to reduce costs.
• Develop packaging specifications with R&D to meet customer and industry requirements.
• Conduct time studies to identify efficiency opportunities in packaging facilities.
• Support documentation updates and training for packaging/process equipment.
