Job summary

Universal Shield Insurance Group is seeking an experienced Commercial P&C Underwriter to manage a renewal book of approximately $7M-$8M and generate new business of about $1.5M annually. You will underwrite for both Admitted and Surplus Lines products within delegated authority, reviewing market conditions to decide on coverage, pricing, or discontinuation.

The role requires applying forms, endorsements and deductibles to mitigate risk, preparing written reports and leading meetings on coverage

Qualifications

• Five+ years of Commercial P&C underwriting experience.
• CPCU, CIC or equivalent designation preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service focus.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Manage renewal book of about $7M-$8M and generate ~1.5M new business annually.
• Underwrite for Admitted and Surplus Lines; price, modify, or accept/reject.
• Review market conditions to decide coverage levels or discontinuation.
• Apply forms, endorsements, and deductibles to mitigate risk.
• Prepare written reports and lead meetings on coverage decisions.
• Develop relationships with wholesalers and agents; provide underwriting guidance.
• Identify growth opportunities and assist with rate and pricing strategies.
• Maintain profitable book within delegated authority and stay current on market trends.
