Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks an experienced OP Senior Coder to act as an OP coding SME, mentor staff, and drive QA and AR outcomes across all OP service lines. The role requires strong ICD-10, CPT, and PCS coding skills and the ability to lead process improvements with dashboards and education initiatives.

You will collaborate with coding leadership to optimize workflows, educate teammates, and ensure timely, compliant coding to support revenue integrity and DNFB/DNFC targets.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressive outpatient coding experience.
• Proficiency in Epic and 3M coding systems.
• Experience across all OP service lines including ancillary, radiology, ED/Observation, SDS, Oncology, infusion and injection coding.
• AHIMA or AAPC credential (COC, CIC, CCS) or RHIA/RHIT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily Outpatient Coding AR activities with leadership input to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Serve as OP coding subject matter expert to staff and partner departments.
• Conduct regular QA reviews to identify trends and drive improvements.
• Maintain ≥95% coding quality across diagnostic, procedural, and modifier codes.
