Job summary

Quorum Health is seeking a Senior Outpatient Coder to lead inpatient and outpatient coding workflows with a focus on accuracy and compliance. The role supports denials reviews, audits, and staff education while aligning with organizational goals for revenue integrity.

You will collaborate with Coding Leadership and CDI teams, applying official guidelines and payer requirements to ensure timely, compliant coding across hospital-based services in a fully remote capacity.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of OPPS, IPPS, UHDDS, Coding Clinic, official coding guidelines, CMS NCCI/OCE edits, and applicable reimbursement methodologies.
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, OneNote, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Ability to interpret audit findings and translate into staff education and process improvement.
• Ability to maintain objectivity, confidentiality, and accurate audit documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
• Extensive knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Pathophysiology.

Responsibilities

• Provides day-to-day leadership and operational support for inpatient and/or outpatient coding workflows and staff.
• Supports Coding Management with process improvement, denials, audits, and staff education.
• Applies official coding guidelines and payer requirements to coding activities.
• Maintains coding accuracy targets and uses audit methodologies.
• Monitors coder productivity and provides coaching based on data.
• Ensures documented claim-hold reasons before DNFB entries.
• Collaborates with HIM/CDI teams on HAC/PSI/Never Event workflows.
• Tracks post-discharge coding queries and supports timely resolution.
