Job summary

Fatbeam Fiber, based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, seeks an OSP Engineer Level II to plan, design, coordinate, and deliver Outside Plant fiber projects from kickoff to construction handoff. You will own engineering deliverables, coordinate permits, ensure quality, and oversee contractors to meet Fatbeam standards.

The role requires 3+ years in OSP telecom, proficiency in AutoCAD, and experience with aerial/underground fiber design.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in the outside plant telecommunications industry, preferably with Competitive Fiber Networks.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD required.
• Experience with aerial and underground fiber design.
• Experience coordinating permits with municipalities, utilities, railroads, and irrigation districts preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Estimated 50%–65% field travel required.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develop aerial and underground fiber optic network designs using Fatbeam engineering standards and best practices.
• Prepare construction-ready engineering packages, permit exhibits, splice documentation, BOMs, and final construction prints.
• Own engineering activities from project kickoff through construction handoff.
• Manage permitting from identification through approval, including coordination with utilities, municipalities, railroads, irrigation districts, and permitting agencies.
• Coordinate engineering activities with Project Managers, Construction, vendors, and third-party engineering firms.
• Prepare engineering RFQs and manage outsourced engineering efforts.
• Review third-party engineering deliverables and perform QA/QC prior to construction release.
