Job summary

ASML in San Diego seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead optomechanical architecture for new product development and sustaining engineering. You will guide cross-disciplinary teams to deliver precise, manufacturable solutions and influence roadmaps five to seven years ahead.

The role requires 10–15 years of experience, a mechanical engineering degree, and preference for advanced degrees. Strong Creo and FEA skills, GD&T experience, and collaboration with suppliers are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Master’s or doctoral degree preferred.
• Experience with machined, sheet metal, molded, additive-manufactured components.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and detailed engineering drawings; Creo preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the specification, architecture, design, integration, and validation of optomechanical modules.
• Develop technology roadmaps and guide research, feasibility studies, sustaining strategies.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams through concept development, detailed design, testing, production introduction, release, and ongoing product support.
• Design mechanical and optomechanical parts, assemblies, fixtures, and alignment solutions.
• Perform tolerance analysis, finite element analysis, and system-level troubleshooting.
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for production, field, and customer issues.
• Develop and implement design improvements for performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost.
• Support engineering change requests, obsolescence management, and lifecycle planning.
