Job summary

ASML Germany GmbH in San Diego, CA seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead optomechanical architecture across new development and sustaining programs. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years of relevant engineering experience including advanced mechanical design and system integration.
• Master’s or doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience designing machined, sheet metal, molded, additive-manufactured, and flexure-based components.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (PTC Creo preferred) and engineering drawings.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, document control, and change processes.
• Experience with FEA for structural, thermal, vibration, or fluid applications.
• Experience supporting released products through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and obsolescence management.

Responsibilities

• Lead specification, architecture, design, integration, and validation of optomechanical modules and subsystems.
• Develop technology roadmaps and guide research and sustaining strategies.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams through concept to production support.
• Design mechanical and optomechanical parts, assemblies, and alignment solutions.
• Perform tolerance analysis and system-level troubleshooting.
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Develop design improvements for reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
• Support lifecycle planning and configuration control for released products.
• Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, service, quality, and supply chain.
• Provide technical leadership for new technology introductions and upgrades.
• Mentor engineers and foster innovation and continuous improvement.
