Corning Inc. in Wilmington, NC seeks an Equipment Development and Design Engineer to prototype, pilot and industrialize manufacturing equipment for optical fiber processes.

You will work in multi-disciplinary teams to advance manufacturing concepts and validate equipment in a plant setting. The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering or related field with 3–12+ years experience, CAD skills (AutoDesk Inventor), and ability to collaborate across Electrical/Controls and Chemical/Materials

Qualifikationen

• BS degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or similar technical field.
• 3 to 12(+) years work experience.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of physical phenomena with a strong background in machine design.
• Ability to design and carry out experiments in lab and manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with 3-D CAD software (AutoDesk Inventor preferred).
• Working knowledge of optical fiber properties, applications, and manufacturing.

Aufgaben

• Identify concepts for improvement of manufacturing equipment; design, build and test selected concepts with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Define and execute equipment validation testing in a manufacturing plant; analyze performance and draw conclusions.
• Collaborate with product and process expertise to deliver equipment solutions.
• Secure funding via appropriation requests and budgeting processes.
• Communicate plans and results and document equipment design using established methods.
