Qualifications

  • B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience with mechanical assemblies.
  • Hands-on lab experience with benchtop setups and evaluation testing.
  • Familiar with materials including glass, metal, plastic, rubber, and epoxy.
  • Design of Experiments to identify causal relationships between variables.
  • Lean and DMAIC process improvement experience.
  • Ability to work with diverse global cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with AI tools to enhance productivity and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Early-stage process development of fiber optic arrays and connector assemblies.
  • Design of fixturing / tooling with hands-on assembly, alignment, and verification testing.
  • Review of materials supporting product improvements, cost reductions, and reliability.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability principles to ensure high yields and low costs.
  • Participate in team problem solving using structured methods / statistical tools.
  • Analyze data for root cause investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external resources to leverage expertise.
  • Coordinate third party suppliers to drive completion of project milestones.
  • Documentation of experimental plans and associated test procedures.
  • Record process details to enable an efficient transfer to Manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Domestic travel up to 10% based on project assignments.
