Job summary

Corning Inc. is seeking a Process Development Engineer in the Optical Communications division in the United States.

You will design and industrialize manufacturing platforms for optical fiber production, applying engineering methods to solve manufacturing challenges and improve yield, rate, and cost. You will work hands-on with equipment, perform systematic process experiments, and collaborate with R&D and Manufacturing teams to drive project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical, Materials, Ceramics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering or closely related field.
• 1+ year of engineering experience.
• Ability to design and execute process experiments using scientific methods.
• Experience applying engineering knowledge to improve manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on with equipment using standard tools and measurement devices.
• Strong verbal and written communication; able to present technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and industrialize manufacturing platforms for optical fiber production.
• Apply engineering principles to diagnose root causes and conduct structured experiments.
• Redesign systems to address safety, performance, or cost issues.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting during development and demonstration phases.
• Collaborate with R&D, Early Stage Development, and Manufacturing teams.
