Job summary

MISO is seeking an Operator Training & Simulation Program Manager to lead the operator readiness simulation and drill program across the grid. You will design, deliver, and continuously improve high-fidelity scenarios and member drills, partnering with operations, technology, and industry partners to ensure reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, business, or related field.
• 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on GE EMS or equivalent control room simulator experience.
• Experience with scenario-based training design.
• Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate simulation training and operator/member drills (4 regular annual drills) for control room operators and engineers.
• Lead the full lifecycle of simulation scenario design from needs assessment to scripting, configuration, testing, and refinement.
• Build and maintain a library of scenarios spanning normal operations, abnormal events, and emergencies.
• Collaborate with Operators, SMEs, engineering teams, and system support groups for accuracy and alignment with procedures.
• Deliver individual and team simulation sessions and large-scale drills for operators, engineers, and members.
• Conduct prebriefs and debriefs to reinforce decision-making and operational excellence.
• Adjust facilitation approaches based on participant experience.
• Conduct ongoing training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and prioritize new scenarios.
• Align simulation content with NERC standards and evolving grid conditions.
• Develop and implement an evaluation framework with competency tracking and assessments.
• Use data to strengthen program effectiveness and operator performance.
• Partner with instructional designers and LMS admins for documentation and tracking.
